NEW BARBECUE RESTAURANT FROM NOTED TEX-MEX CHEF TO OPEN IN WEST FORT WORTH

A “Texican” barbecue restaurant from a popular Tex-Mex chef known for side dishes and sauces will open in west Fort Worth, the owner said Wednesday.

Holy Cue, a spinoff from contest-winning Enchiladas Olé, will open in a former Middle Eastern and Ethiopian restaurant at 4307 Camp Bowie Blvd., owner Mary Patino Perez said.

Holy Cue currently sells takeout barbecue, side dishes, sandwiches and plates for lunch Thursdays through Sundays at Enchiladas Olé’s flagship location, 2418 Forest Park Blvd.

What began as a side effort smoking brisket for Enchiladas Olé’s tacos grew to a barbecue boom. The restaurant often sells out quickly of brisket, ribs, boneless chicken breast and sides such as Gouda mac-and-cheese. scalloped potatoes, creamed corn and sweet-potato pie.

Perez had originally announced that Holy Cue would open next to Enchiladas Olé before choosing the new location.

Enchiladas Olé has a second location at 6473 Camp Bowie Blvd.

Perez’s Enchiladas Olé originated as a specialty business selling craft enchilada sauces.. It expanded to restaurants serving enchiladas with a choice of seven specialty sauces including ancho chile, tomatillo, mole, creamy Hatch green chile and Santa Fe red chile.

The restaurant formerly had a north Tarrant County location and will reopen closer to the Heritage Trace Boulevard and Alliance Town Center neighborhoods, Perez has said.
