SCHITTS CREEKS EMILY HAMPSHIRE JOINS VINCE VAUGHN IN NEW ACTION-COMEDY MOVIE
Emily Hampshire, known for portraying Stevie Budd on Schitt’s Creek and Jennifer Goines on SyFy’s 12 Monkeys, is joining the cast of the new film Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice.
According to The Wrap, Hampshire will play a crooked cop in the high-concept buddy action-comedy movie that will be set in a criminal underworld. BenDavid Grabinski is serving as writer and director on the project. Vince Vaughn, James Marsden, Eiza González, Jimmy Tatro and Keith David will also be in the film.
Emily Hampshire Has Been Keeping Busy
Hampshire recently appeared in the films Humane, The Mattachine Family, Fitting In, and Self Reliance. She was in 78 of the 80 episodes of Schitt’s Creek, during the series’ six-season run from 2015 to 2020.
Fans of Schitt’s Creek may remember the bond between Eugene Levy’s Johnny Rose and Hampshire’s character on the series. In the episode “Open Mic,” Johnny officially re-branded the Schitt’s Creek Motel as the Rosebud Motel, which combined their last names. Johnny's action seemingly cemented to Stevie that he wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
One of Vince Vaughn's Best Comedies Was Almost Never Made
2004's Dodgeball defied the odds and became a comedy classic, with a legacy sequel on the way. It arrived despite surprising production challenges.
Last year, Hampshire published her first graphic novel with Z2 Comics titled Amelia Aierwood: Basic Witch. The title was co-written by Eliot Rahal and a slew of comic artists including Kristen Gudsnuk. The book introduces the powerful witch family, the Aierwoods, who star in a reality show. Amelia sees herself as an outcast among her family, along with her brother, named “Spaghetti,” who, in the story was accidentally turned into a Yeti.
Production is already in the works on Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice. Principal photography began earlier this month in Winnipeg. The movie is being produced by Andrew Lazar for 20th Century Studios. Larry Fong of 300 and Kong: Skull Island is the cinematographer on the film.
Grabinski was the co-writer and developer of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, which aired on Netflix for one season in 2023. The show, an anime, reunited the cast of the 2010 movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, with a new look at the comic book series. He also was the writer and director of the indie film Happily and Nickelodeon’s reboot of Are You Afraid of the Dark.
