Hollywood Needs to Remember The True Lesson of The Fall Guy

The Fall Guy kept everything simple, and it paid off. This is something that Hollywood needs to remember for the future.

The synopsis for The Fall Guy reads as follows: "Ryan Gosling stars Colt Seavers, a battle-scarred stuntman who, having left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health, is drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie—being directed by his ex, Jody Moreno, played by Emily Blunt—goes missing."

The synopsis continues, "While the film’s ruthless producer (Hannah Waddingham), maneuvers to keep the disappearance of star Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) a secret from the studio and the media, Colt performs the film’s most outrageous stunts while trying (with limited success) to charm his way back into Jody’s good graces. But as the mystery around the missing star deepens, Colt will find himself ensnared in a sinister, criminal plot that will push him to the edge of a fall more dangerous than any stunt."

Ryan Gosling Is Open to a Fall Guy Sequel

While a sequel to The Fall Guy seems unlikely given the movie's poor box office performance, Gosling had shared back in May that the team had already come up with an idea for a follow-up. "The sequel sort of wrote itself. We already know [the story] intimately," he said. "We love these characters so much that we wanted to know, just for ourselves, what happens to Colt and [Blunt’s character] Jody after the movie ends? What’s the next phase for them? And we know exactly what it is. So hopefully the audience wants to know, too."

The Fall Guy is currently available on Digital and will be released on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on July 23.
