TIM BURTON'S BEETLEJUICE SEQUEL TO PREMIERE AT VENICE FILM FESTIVAL

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the sequel to Tim Burton's beloved horror-comedy classic Beetlejuice, is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival.

Burton is back in the director's chair for the long-awaited sequel. Also returning to haunt this new film are Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara, reprising their roles as Betelgeuse, Lydia Deetz, and Delia Deetz respectively. Keaton made it "ultra clear" that he wanted more screen time in the sequel, so expect a lot of the titular character in the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Ryder's "big challenge" for the Beetlejuice sequel was finding a balance between the old and new Lydia. Joining the legacy cast members are some new specters as well: Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Jenna Ortega, and Willem Dafoe. Per THR, the film is primed to start off the 81st Venice International Film Festival with a bang on Aug. 28, screening out of competition.

Fans New and Old Are Excited about the Sequel

The original Beetlejuice may have been released in 1988, but the film's legacy has loomed large since then. The animated TV show--which ran from September 9, 1989, to October 26, 1991--is a nostalgic classic for many people who grew up with it. The 2018 musical Beetlejuice The Musical. The Musical. The Musical. brought the beloved character to a whole new generation of fans.
