ZACK SNYDER TEASES BIG SCREEN RELEASE FOR JUSTICE LEAGUE'S SNYDER CUT

Zack Snyder's alternate version of Justice League may soon be heading to theaters. Previously released exclusively for streaming on Max, the four-hour film is teased to be getting a theatrical run.

On Snyder's Vero profile, the filmmaker shared an image of Ben Affleck's Batman from Zack Snyder's Justice League. In the caption, Snyder also noted, "Want to see ZSJL on the big screen .... stay tuned for a date." No other information was shared, but this strongly suggests that Snyder has plans to get the film on the big screen sometime in the near future. The tease comes months after Snyder acknowledged the three-year anniversary of its streaming release in March.

Zack Snyder Confirms Titles, Release Dates for Rebel Moon Director's Cuts

Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder announces the new titles and release dates for his upcoming extended versions of his space opera films.

Released in theaters in 2017, the original version of Justice League had been heavily criticized. This was attributed in part to the sudden exit of Snyder from the director's chair during the movie's production following a family tragedy. Joss Whedon came on board to replace Snyder, and the new director made many changes to the tone and story of the film. This resulted in a fan campaign for Warner Bros. to release the "Snyder Cut," a movement that was ultimately a success, allowing Snyder to complete his alternate version with unused footage along with some newly shot material.

The "Snyder Cut" Was Much Better Received Than the 2017 Film

Zack Snyder's Justice League was much better received upon its release on Max (then HBO Max) in 2021. Though considerably longer than the theatrical version, clocking in at 242 minutes (just over four hours long), it was given much higher praise by fans and critics. Its respective critics and audience scores at Rotten Tomatoes are 71% and 93%, both much higher than the 2017 film's scores of 40% and 67%.

Netflix Reveals New Look at Zack Snyder's Animated Series

Director Zack Snyder has many projects coming up, including an animated series that has been years in the works.

The ensemble cast of Zack Snyder's Justice League includes Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman), Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Ray Fisher (Victor Stone/Cyborg), Jason Momoa (Arthur Curry/Aquaman), and Ezra Miller (Barry Allen/The Flash). The film also stars Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), Ray Porter (Darkseid), Amber Heard (Mera), and Willem Dafoe (Nuidis Vulko).

Jared Leto's Joker also notably appeared in the film. This was a result of the limited reshoots Snyder filmed for the new cut, and the design of the character was different from how Joker appeared in Suicide Squad. The changes were embraced by many fans, feeling that Snyder's redesign of the Clown Prince of Crime had a lot of potential. However, it doesn't seem that Snyder will be doing anything more with the SnyderVerse following the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League.
