PASSENGER STUNNED AS BOYFRIEND RETURNS FROM BATHROOM WITH FLIGHT ATTENDANT
A video of a man on a plane appearing to get involved in flight attendant duties has gone viral on TikTok.
The clip, captured June 25, was posted by 30-year-old Olivia Power (@oliviapowerxxx), the man's girlfriend, who works for a housing association selling shared ownership homes, she told Newsweek. The moment took place during their journey back to London Gatwick Airport after their vacation on the Greek island of Crete. The couple were traveling on a flight with TUI, the British airline.
The footage shows Power's 36-year-old boyfriend in the aisle of the plane wearing disposable gloves, an apron and a neck scarf that appears to be part of the staff's uniform while pushing a trolley down the aisle. He is heard saying "Anyone with any rubbish?" as other passengers hand him their trash, which he stuffs down a compartment of the trolley.
Power told Newsweek: "I turned around and he was coming down the aisle like that!"
Her boyfriend "needed the toilet and went to wait outside and the air hostesses were joking around with him, saying, 'You don't want to do the rubbish, do you?'"
Power said the flight attendants "couldn't believe it" when her boyfriend said yes.
The flight attendant profession was No. 48 in this year's 100 Best Jobs ranking by U.S. News & World Report. The profession was ranked third among the highest-paying jobs without a degree and fifth in the rankings for the best civil service jobs and best jobs without a college degree.
Flight attendant employment is expected to grow 11 percent from 2022 to 2032, "much faster than the average for all occupations," says the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
"About 16,600 openings for flight attendants are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire," according to the BLS.
'He's a Keeper'
A message overlaid on the video, which has received 1.9 million views since it was posted July 1, says: "My boyfriend said he was going for a wee, I turned around to see what the hell was taking him so long..."
Power told Newsweek: "He actually does waste removal as his job, so it was really weird that they [the flight staff] asked him to do it."
A caption with the post says: "@TUI UK & Ireland might have a new staff member by next week. We'll take free flights as payment pls [please]."
Users on TikTok were floored by the latest clip.
"This is HILARIOUS...absolutely amazin!!" wrote @chloeehutchonn, and user7842718424386 said: "Legend. He's a keeper."
