PEACOCK'S POKER FACE GETS EXCITING UPDATE AS FANS WAIT FOR SEASON 2

Rian Johnson's hit series Poker Face was met with great acclaim upon its debut on Peacock in early 2023. The show was renewed for a second season soon after, but its production has since been on the shelf.

That changed on July 1, as revealed by Tony Tost, a writer and director working on the series. Tost took to social media to share an image of the clapperboard from the set, announcing that Season 2 of Poker Face has officially started filming. The clapperboard shows that the cast and crew have been filming the second episode of the season, also revealing that series star Natasha Lyonne will be directing. It might have taken about a year and a half, but new episodes have finally started production.

'Never Gotten This Kind of Reaction': Alanna Ubach Nails Her Role in Peacock's Ted

Ted star Alanna Ubach tells CBR how she delivered her winning performance as John's mom Susan in Peacock's TV series - and how it wasn't a sure thing.

In the post, that was reposted on Instagram by Johnson, Tost also shared a message that stated, "First day of filming season two of Poker Face. Still counting my blessings that I’m getting to step in and help make a new season of one of my favorite shows."

The First Season of Poker Face Was Highly Acclaimed

It was only natural for the series to get a second season. The first season of the show was met with very high acclaim, resulting in a Primetime Emmy Award for Lyonne for her performance in the lead role. The series also has a near-perfect approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, landing a 98% score. If the second season is just as well-received, there could be a third season and beyond to come for Poker Face, as Johnson has teased that he's up for keeping the show going for a while.

Those About to Die Trailer and Images Reveal Anthony Hopkins in Peacock's Gladiator Series

Peacock has dropped a new trailer along with key art and images for Anthony Hopkin's gladiator series Those About to Die.

"We want to keep doing it and I feel like it is very much built so that there is an overarching story but it's kind of similar to the story of whether Sam is going to get home on Quantum Leap," Johnson said, per Deadline. "It kind of doesn't matter really, it's just an engine to be able to keep her on the road and keep her moving and keep doing these little mysteries and having exciting people in them. Our goal is to just keep doing that as long as we can."

Natasha Lyonne Solves Murder Mysteries in Poker Face

The concept of the series is that it follows Lyonne as Charlie Cale, a casino worker who has a special skill for being able to tell when people are lying. This leads to her traveling across the U.S. and solving various murder mysteries, all while on the run from a casino boss. Along with Lyonne, the first season featured Benjamin Bratt along with guest stars like Adrien Brody, Ron Perlman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Jameela Jamil.

Season 2 of Poker Face doesn't yet have a premiere date.
