THE X-MEN'S POP PRINCESS GOES ON A WORLD TOUR IN NEW PREVIEW

Dazzler, the X-Men's princess of pop, will get her own all-new limited comic book series later this year. In the story, Dazzler will embark on a world tour that Marvel has dubbed the "concert and comic event of the year".

The new Dazzler limited series is written by Jason Loo (Sentry, Infinity Paws) and features art by Marvel newcomer Rafael Loureiro. The first issue hits comic book shops on Sept. 18, and Marvel recently revealed three brand new variant covers for the first issue, including a special Windowshades Variant Cover by Marguerite Sauvage that shows Dazzler getting ready for her world tour.

Marvel's solicit for the first issue teases that not everything will go as planned on Dazzler's new tour: "While Dazzler may be ready to focus on her music, her celebrity-mutant status and a violent attack may sideline the entire endeavor before it's even begun..." Dazzler won't be the only recognizable mutant to be in the spotlight of Jason Loo's new limited series. She will be joined by her new road crew made up of the X-Force's Domino, as well as Strong Guy and Multiple Man. Marvel also revealed that each issue of the series will come with original song lyrics from Dazzler's notebook.

Marvel's New Series Marks Dazzler's Return to the Spotlight

The character of Dazzler (Alison Blaire) first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #130 back in Feb. 1980. Dazzler is one of Marvel's many unique mutants, with the power to convert sound vibrations into light and energy. In the 1980s, she had her own series that lasted for forty-two issues, and the character has gone on to appear in multiple other X-Men related titles over the years.

Despite having only one self-titled series under her belt, Dazzler has gained a cult following since her debut, and the new limited series from Loo and Loureiro marks her return to center stage. In addition to comics, Dazzler has also appeared in other media, including X-Men: The Animated Series and even a cameo appearance in the 2019 film Dark Phoenix, where she was portrayed by Halston Sage.

Dazzler #1 goes on sale Sept. 18 from Marvel Comics.
