MTV'S ‘THE CHALLENGE' DROPS MEGA SEASON 40 CAST LIST: C.T. TAMBURELLO, JOHNNY BANANAS, AND MORE

There's a new Eras show in town. Battle of the Eras, the 40th Season of MTV's The Challenge, arrives on Aug. 14 - and the cast list is impressive.

The new season will fittingly feature 40 players, divided into four teams from each of its "eras" across its 26-year history. The cast list includes beloved competitors like Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio (Era 2, 7 wins), C.T. Tamburello (Era 1, 5 wins), Cara Maria Sorbello (Era 2, 2 wins), Tori Deal (Era 3, 1 win), and Era 2 player Laurel Stucky - who just took home her second win last week on The Challenge: All Stars 4.

Other fan favorites returning for the highly-anticipated season include Leroy Garrett (who recently spoke to Rolling Stone alongside his castmate and partner "Killer" Kam Williams), Jordan Wiseley, Aneesa Fereira, Mark Long, Horacio Gutiérrez Jr., and more. This season features a $1 million prize.

The Challenge, a spin-off of The Real World and Road Rules, is MTV's longest-running reality competition show; Julie Pizzi, Justin Booth, Jacob Lane, and Emer Harkin serve as executive producers.

In March, Rolling Stone interviewed Tamburello - who won the second season of the U.S. iteration of The Traitors alongside his Challenge castmate Trishelle Cannatella - and he hinted at returning for Season 40.

"I don't know," he said. "Wait and see. Wait and see. I'll tell you what. I took a little break, and I've missed this stuff. Coming out of retirement again and doing Traitors… I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity to transition back into the world. Doing it as long I have, you start to miss it when you're not doing it, you know?"
